My cup of tea?

See all 8 photos

Single, self-sufficient, gentle and romantic.

I am single, I love to be single and very seldom, almost never I feel lonely. I am never bored with myself. I am self sufficient enough not to be desperate for a men's company. What's more, I prefer to be alone than to be in a company of a man just for the sake of being with a man. My standards are somewhat high and consequently my expectations are too high. Not every human being wearing pants and having a male rudiment in his pants will attract me just for this reason.

Nevertheless, I am not made of iron. I have flesh and soul, I long for feelings. I am a womanly woman, gentle, tender, romantic. I love to kiss and I am good at it. I love to dress up, to go out, to dine out, to visit shows and go to museums. I love to date, if the date is conducted on a good level. I would like to proceed into a long term relationship (maybe, life long relationship) with a right man. It didn't happen so far, but I do not rush.

I am not going to take just anything what God and life give me, unless it is my cup of tea. How do you know if it is your cup of tea, unless you take a sip?

So, you chose a cup that you like. Not just a foam cup, some disposable one-time-use cup, but a nice cup of your taste and style. You pick up a box of good tea (not just some cheap lifeless Lipton bags). You brew a pot of tea.

It looks nice and inviting. Now... to have a taste of it, you should take a sip....

The Fireside Dinner Theatre is one of the Midwest's most popular entertainment destinations and the only Actor’s Equity dinner theatre in Wisconsin

Most romantic date.

Once again I have met a guy that attracted my attention by his looks, manners and skills. A good looking, well-groomed guy. A handyman, who seems to be able to fix anything, even if it is just putting a duct tape around. He is witty and funny. He is lacking some education, but education and intelligence are not the same things. We feel comfortable with each other and have many common things to talk about.

So, we went through the first stage of sniffing, so to say. We talked, we shared thoughts, we took long walks together. We kissed. Checked! He is is a good kisser, my type. Light, gentle kisses that start from butterfly touches of lips. No tongue shoveling. No hand travelling where they should not be for now.

So, when he invited me for a date out, I accepted his invitation with heart fluttering anticipation. It was going to be the most romantic date out.

I love to dine out in fancy places. I love to go to theater shows. So, we were going to a Dinner Theater! What a perfect combination!

He made reservation in The Fireside Dinner Theatre, one of the Midwest's most popular entertainment destinations and the only Actor’s Equity dinner theatre in Wisconsin. The business is owned by a Klopcic family who run this charming place in historic Fort Atkinson , WI for a long time already, I think for 46 years. The Fireside Dinner Theatre offers a variety of things to do. Besides fine dining with amazing award-winning cuisine, they have gift shops, their own bakery (and you can buy their special bread to take home with you), but most of everything, you can enjoy the evening by watching one of the best professional theatre troupes Wisconsin has to offer.

Since we live somewhat far away from Fort Atkinson, it will be just tiresome to make this a one day date. The drive there will take almost 6 hours, then several hours of eating and the show. It will be just silly to drive back home after the show.

So, there going to be another part of the most romantic date. And it will be the most romantic tasting of a cup of tea. Not just a foam cup of a hotel stay with a standard bed and continental breakfast, but a special reservation of a special suite in a Cambridge House, Bed and Breakfast place.

I love Bed and Breakfast places. They are a little bit more expensive than a hotel stay, but if you are not on a hurry-hurry business trip, you will have much more pleasure and relaxation making your reservation in a Bed and Breakfast house.

Sometimes you just want to see the actors faces closer...

Places were easy to find.

After a long non-stop drive we arrived to Cambridge, WI and without any trouble found the address of a Cambridge House, our Bed and Breakfast destination- 123 East Main Street.

A nice corner house looked very homey. We parked our little car in a small conveniently located private parking lot and went to the main porch. We were greeted by a charming middle aged host, Jeff.

We had less than a couple of hours before the show time and Jeff knew our plans. He rushed us to our suite and shortly after he brought us a plate with traditional Wisconsin snacks- cubed cheese, summer sausage, fresh fruits and a jar of the most refreshing wine.

The appetizer and wine reception was very welcoming, as the suite itself. My friend had chosen a special suite with separate entrance, Log Cabin Suite, which was going to be a special experience in itself.

We took a quick shower, changed into fancy evening attire and were off to a short drive to The Fire Side Dinner Theater in Fort Atkinson. Again we found the place without any trouble. The parking lot was packed, because there was an earlier show in progress and people were arriving for an evening show. But the parking lot was huge, so we found an empty parking space and walked to the theater.

The Fire Side Dinner Theater.

The "FireSide" started in 1964 as a small restaurant, built and operated by Dick and Betty Klopcic. Through 1966 to 1972 the Klopcic family expanded the place several times because of its growing popularity. They also started hosting fabulous wedding receptions and private parties. In 1978 the Fireside restaurant accommodated another building of former art gallery and opened as the FireSide Dinner Theater. Through 1982-1986 its gift shops expanded in size, adding more attraction to the place. 1992/1993 brought major renovations to the theater. More seats are added to the theatre, and the place is made handicap accessible. The state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, and a hydraulic lift system which was installed under the stage added a spectacular new dimension to Fireside shows. From 1998 the next generation of the Klopcic family took over the place.

No wonder that The FireSide Dinner Theater attracts so many people each season. In one visit you can enjoy fine dining experience and great Broadway musicals.

The restaurant area has spectacular design. I presume that it is large, but it looks even larger than it is. It is very spacious and festive. The restaurant crew is nice and professional.

The food was not bad, though I can't say that it was gourmet. It looked very good, though. I really liked that the portions were not huge and I actually was able to finish mine, which doesn't happen very often when I dine out. My friend complained that for him it was not enough, but, oh well.... we didn't come there to stuff our bellies after all. The atmosphere was very romantic and festive, which was exactly what I looked for. Our table was next to a very beautiful artificial pond with small waterfalls, which added romance.

After the meal we had some time to explore the gift shops, but we didn't buy anything, because we were not interested in that kind of stuff. But if you are a collector, you will sure find something for your taste on the numerous shelves with nick-knacks, CDs and collectible items.

Then came the best part of the day- the show! The stage area is designed so, that every person becomes a member of the show. It is not a standard type of a theater with a stage in the front and chairs in rows. The stage is in the middle and rows of chairs are around it.

You cannot take pictures during the performance, but I borrowed a couple of pictures from the FireSide's Facebook page.

The musical "The Sound of Music" was great. The performance was wonderful, the kids did an amazing job! It was a very high level of performing. The costumes and decorations were superb. The way the stage was operated was above perfect.

It was a perfect romantic date for me. I enjoyed the performance beyond my expectations.

Bed and Breakfast stay to follow.

When we came back to our Cambridge House, we found a plate with a night snack waiting for us on a small table by the entrance. It looked like Jeff saw us coming and rushed to put a plate there, because the homemade cookies were still warm.

It was a perfect ending of the evening. Watch for my next story about a Log Cabin Suite experience.
